I Need to Cher was the world’s only immersive Cher-themed informative feminist cabaret night. Using interactive activities; feminist performance; and informative presentations - a menagerie of Chers take the audience through a journey that spans Cher's six decade influence on popular culture. Voted Time Out's 6th best night out in London.
The show is DIY, unashamed in its love and passion for Cher and what she stands for as a feminist hero. The first instalment included the audience mounting men dressed as cannons; a twitter response from Cher herself and a two week Cher-induced high for all those in attendance.
Expect the ghost of Sonny Bono, five star drag and interpretive horse dance. All attendees will graduate the night with a level 3 qualification in Cher and a dance party (55% Cher).I Need to Cher has sold out every show it has done so far and is open to absolutely everyone who needs to Cher.
Now on maternity leave indefinitely - I Need to Cher was the best thing I have ever made & Cher herself tweeted that she acknowledged our existence. Created in conjunction with the likes of Rebecca Biscuit, Vijay Patel, Ray Filar & Tizzy Von Tassel.
Heather's solo show Mummy Vs is about her experiences of becoming a parent, post natal depression & losing your identity. It toured to Stanley Arts, the Pleasance, Vaults Festival, AAC in Leicester, Brighton Old Market & Norwich Arts Centre.
There's a lot more that can be said about it but it was a show that involved 40 people, survived a pandemic, the growth & birth of my second child & allowed me to feel my producer oats.
Particular thanks to the people who made it possible Rebecca Biscuit, Jen Smethurst, Martin Crozer, Claudia Agati, Gaze Magazine, Jen Offord, AAC & the brilliant wrestlers who helped me along the way.
Heather is the lead artist on Sasquatch - a children's show about wrestling, cryptozoology & being yourself. Directed by Micha Mirto (Dolls in Amber) & Daisy Lang (Rocky Rhodes) with dramaturgy from Ivor Macallister (Fish & Game) & Graham Hubbard (What the Ladybird Saw) this is a show for the ages. A hour long show with big characters & big heart for ages 6+ and their grown ups.
Supported by Arts Council England & Spun Glass Theatre
Heather is creative producer of Gimmicks by Michael Reece (Mythos, Lucha Britannia, Exotic!) with dramturgy from Sikisa Bostwick-Barnes. Wrestling has a difficult relationship with race & the gimmicks - characters - given to non-white wrestlers are often unexplored in their implications. Gimmicks is a long-form movement piece using an episodic deep-dive in to the experiences of 5 POC wrestlers
Supported by Camden People's Theatre
Cystelia is a giant cyst with the voice of Lewisham Hospital Gynaecology Department's receptionist. Let her lead you through a presentation on PCOS and then feed you pickled onions while doing a striptease.
From 2015 - 2017 The SLITS (Super Luchadoras in Training) were a group of 6 people who performed dance routines combined with wrestling performances. Is the She Wolf in Shakira's closet a rabid beast? Who would win in a Disney Princess battle Royale?
